Podcasts, Sight seeing and Windows 7, oh my!

Hello everyone!

I finally have the time to blog about our trip! Haha. I'm going to start from when we landed in California to the Windows 7 Launch Party the other Techies and I went to.

So, we landed in San Francisco on the 19th and once we got off the plane and got our rental car (van) we went straight to eat at Luigi's Sandwich Bar. It was amazing! Then we went straight to Petaluma to meet Leo and Abby Laporte at TWIT Studios! I can say for myself that I was pretty darn star struck. Haha. I've listened to some of Abby's podcasts and it was amazing to see her in person. She's so sweet in person! Well, the Panther Techies got a tour of TWIT Studios by Abby and the supertechnician, Colleen. Once we got our tour, we got to sit in on one of Abby's interviews with her college counselor Jennifer Christensen. After watching the interview, Leo Laporte came in! He was really cool and he's really nice in person as well. He gave us an in depth tour of the studio itself and then we interviewed Abby. I think the best part about it was that most of the KPHS staff was watching and giving us support :D. I think we did really well for our first interview!

The 20th was an intense work day for the Techies! We spent the day interviewing each other about our interviews with Abby, then we went out to Union Square Park in California and brainstormed about later podcasts. We got a lot of material for our first podcast and we did very well.

The 21st was a test of the Techies's endurance! We walked all the way from our hotel to the Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Now that is a great feat. San Francisco is full of hills and I know that myself and some other Techies are sore from the waist down. But it was "all apart of the experience" as Ms. Siemer would say. As we went around San Francisco, we got material for the video that we are sending back to school for Friday! We also went to the California Academy of Sciences and the new King Tut exhibit in San Francisco.

Today, the 22nd, we went to the Windows 7 Launch Party at TWIT Studios. It was awesome! We got to see Leo Laporte and Colleen again. :) We also saw some new faces, like Dr. Kirsten (Kiki) Sanford! We got to see Leo in full action as he downloaded Windows 7 onto his computer. It was exciting. Sometime during the party, the female Techies went to do a little shopping in Petaluma. It was really fun because Petaluma has a small town kind of feel and I for one just loved how close the shops were and I got some cute jewelry and a book :D.

Now, the Techies are editing the material we have already and getting it out to KPHS. After all this hard work, we are going out to eat tonight in Fisherman's Wharf.

Over and out,
Adrianna
